Before Senate
Credential Completion Letter
An official letter that confirms you have met all program requirements and are waiting to be awarded by Senate.
Available: Once Graduate Studies receives and processes the Credential Recommendation from your program, you will be able to generate a credential completion letter in goSFU.

Note: Once your degree is awarded by Senate you will no longer be able to generate a Credential Completion Letter. It is replaced by the Senate Letter.
After Senate
Senate Letter
An official letter confirming that Senate has awarded your degree. Senate formally awards degrees in September, February, and May.
Available: You will be sent an email the day after Senate has met with a PDF of your Senate Letter.
Official Transcript
The official record of your academic history showing all courses, grades, and credentials awarded.
Available: The day after Senate has awarded your degree.
After convocation
Degree Parchment
The official certificate of degree completion.
Available: On the day of convocation.
Note: Graduates who do not pick up their parchment at their convocation ceremony can pick it up in person (or by third party authorization) at the Faculty of Graduate Studies office, Maggie Benston Centre (room 1100) starting the week after the ceremony. Approximately one month after the ceremonies all remaining unclaimed parchments will be mailed to the graduates' mailing address on file via regular Canada Post. To request priority shipping, which includes a tracking number, at additional cost please contact the Faculty of Graduate Studies at grad_reg@sfu.ca.
