International Admission Requirements

Admission to Graduate Certificate or Diploma

Minimum Equivalent Qualifications

For admission to a Graduate Certificate or Diploma the requirement is a degree equivalent to a Simon Fraser University 4-year bachelor’s degree with a minimum overall grade equivalent to a B-.

Admission to Master's Program

Minimum Equivalent Qualifications

For admission to a master’s program, the qualifications listed are normally recognized as equivalent to a Simon Fraser University 4-year bachelor’s degree with minimum overall grade requirements.

Most SFU graduate programs will assess a Bologna compliant degree as equivalent to a 4-year degree.

Admission Notes

  • Due to education reform, many institutions acquired University College status in 1994. These institutions should be reviewed carefully.
  • There is no strict time limit set for the completion of studies for a degree. Students take the exams when they think they are ready. The average length of study for the first degree is five to seven years.
  • Some institutions are planning to offer new Bachelor`s and/or Master`s degrees. Please consult with Graduate Admissions on how to assess these new degrees.
