Community Engagement Centre (SFU Surrey)
The SFU Surrey - TD Community Engagement Centre (SFU CEC) is home to more than 30 programs and events that focus on supporting children, youth and families and Newcomers to Canada.

Empower MEdia: School's Out - Digital Literacy Mentor
(In-Person)
Make a POSITIVE digital footprint by empowering children with the skills to become lifelong digital citizens. “Empower MEdia”, an after-school program focusing on digital citizenship for kids in grades 5-7. This no-cost after-school program will run twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays, at Betty Huff Elementary School between October 2023 – June 2024.
The SFU Surrey - TD Community Engagement Centre (SFU CEC) is looking for self-motivated volunteers to help implement this program, mentor the participants and create a safe and positive environment for the participants to learn, connect and have fun!

Friends of Simon
Friends of Simon is an award-winning program that recruits, prepares, and assigns university students as literacy tutors in the Lower Mainland, particularly with newcomer K-12 students.
As a Friends of Simon tutor, you'll serve in multicultural settings and contribute to the school success of newcomers to Canada. Thanks to the generosity of sponsors, tutors earn hourly wages that help them with their own university expenses.
