run queries in Slate
Slate queries are a quick and easy way to get specific data on applicants.
- All queries have a preview window with a search function.
- Users can link to the applicant record from the preview window.
- All queries can exported into Excel and manipulated as you see fit.
This page outlines how to find and run prebuilt queries and the content of those queries.

How to run a prebuilt query
Prebuilt queries appear on the landing pages of both the administrative side of Slate and the Reader. The process is the same to run all queries.
Find the query you wish to run:
- Click the query link.
- Click Run Query.
- On the preview window you can: view the data, use the search box, click on an applicant row for more information (includes a link to the application record).
- Click Export to pull the data into a spreadsheet. You can use this spreadsheet to sort and filter the information.
Find prebuilt queries on Slate's Landing page (also on the Reader home page).
After clicking Run Query users can preview the data, use the search field, click Export to pull the data into Excel.

| All Applicants Current Year | Use: to obtain a list of all applicants in the current admission cycle Contains: current bin, admission type (conditional or not), identification and contact information, entry term, program and subplan, area of interest, supervisor(s), research choices, residency/citizenship, Indigenous identity, conditional admission text, service indicators, admission funding offer text. |
| Decisions - All Applicants All Years | Use: to obtain a list of all applicants from all years Contains: current bin, identification and contact information, entry term, program, area of interest, potential supervisor(s), research choices, residency/citizenship, Indigenous identity, credentials, GPA, incomplete checklist items and references, date submitted. |
| Materials|checklist items | Use: find which applications have all checklist items completed and which do not. |
| Reviewer Assignments | Use: find out which faculty reviewers have/have not submitted their reviews. |

| Entrance Award Candidates Query | Use: when it's time to identify Entrance Award candidates. Columns (AA-AG) reflect your choices on the admission rec form (funding fields). |
| Potential Supervisors | Use: obtain a list of potential supervisors that appear in application form dropdown. |
| goGRAD/Slate access | Use: for a list of users with access to applications in your unit. |
| Program Dates | Use: for a list of open dates and deadlines for each of your programs. |
| Supervisor Requests | Use: faculty can run this query to see who has selected them as a potential supervisor. Faculty must have access to Slate; this query only pulls data for the user running it. |
