Engineering Science doctoral student in the Faculty of Applied Sciences
I earned my M.Sc. in Applied Computing from the University of Toronto in 2015 and received a B.Eng. degree in Networks and Communications in 2007 from Universidad Tecnológica del Centro (Venezuela). I have seven years of industry experience conducting applied research in machine learning and natural language computing. My research interests include learnable compression for humans and machines, representation learning, information theory, and collaborative intelligence.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO COME TO SFU?

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR RESEARCH OR YOUR PROGRAM TO A FAMILY MEMBER?
I am increasing the understanding of how artificial intelligence can capture the redundancies present in images and videos.
WHAT ARE YOU PARTICULARLY ENJOYING ABOUT YOUR STUDIES/RESEARCH AT SFU?
The freedom and support to pursue my ideas and the chance to collaborate with the industry to assess the relevance of this research to society.
