Tell us a little about yourself, including what inspires you to learn and continue in your chosen field
As someone who approaches their studies and work with a social justice lens, I feel inspired by the positive contributions I can make with the tools that are taught in the Master of Public Policy program.
Why did you choose to come to SFU?
I chose SFU's Master of Public Policy program because it values diversity across its students, it promotes both hands-on and academic learning, and because the cohort format allows great community building between colleagues and faculty.
How would you describe your research or your program to a family member?
My program gives me the professional tools to navigate bureaucratic processes effectively to promote and enact positive changes to policies that touch the lives of Canadians, either directly or indirectly. The program prepares me for policy research and development in the public, non-profit, or private sector.
What three (3) keywords would you use to describe your research?
Equity, Analysis, Collaboration
How have your courses, RA-ships, TA-ships, or non-academic school experiences contributed to your academic and/or professional development?
In my studies, extra-curricular projects, and during my co-op, I have had the opportunity to perform research and analysis towards better policies to serve British Columbians. Both my critical thinking and policy communication skills have become stronger through these experiences.
Have you been the recipient of any major or donor-funded awards? If so, please tell us which ones and a little about how the awards have impacted your studies and/or research
I received SSHRC in 2025. This scholarship has been incredibly impactful on my ability to invest in my education and focus solely on my studies.
