Indigenous Student Cultural House Living Learning Community Advisor

This position is essential to the development of a positive community and learning experience for residents. As the primary support for residents, the ISCH LLCA assists in the creation of a safe and welcoming environment for all community members. With a focus on students living in the ISCH Living-Learning Community (ISCH LLC), the ISCH LLCA works closely with the ISC and the Residence Leadership Management Team (RLMT) to assist with residents’ academic and social transition to university life. Residence Move in Crew Member Volunteer position

Three times a year, SFU Residence and Housing welcomes new and returning residents for the upcoming term. Students moving into residence are joining a purposeful living and learning environment that contributes to their academic and personal success. Living in residence is more than just a place to sleep and we want incoming residents to get that message right from move in. The Residence and Housing team is seeking volunteers to welcome these students, and their friends and families that support them, to the community. This welcome involves assisting them with moving their items and belongings into their rooms as part of the culture of community and connections. Move in Crew Members will help ease the physical process of moving in as a friendly welcome as well as ease the flow of traffic of bodies and belongings.

Move in Crew Members are not required to live in Residence, but can apply for an early move in with the fee waived if certain conditions are met (see the position description for more details).

Orientation Assistant

The Orientation Assistant (OA) supports the transition of new students to living in the SFU residence community by facilitating the planning and development of residence orientation, residence move in and transitional programming. The OA does this by assisting in the recruitment, hiring and training of the Residence Welcome Team (RWT). The OA also works closely with Residence and Housing team and the RWT to plan and deliver residence move in days as well as residence orientation and transitional programming. Programming Assistant

Join our Facilities team

The Residence facilities team mission is to effectively and efficiently provide stewardship of buildings and lands to support the residents and staff community in pursuit of excellence in their individual and institutional, academic teaching, research and community objectives.

Room Condition Inspector

Reporting to the Coordinator, Residence Facilities Services, the Room Condition Inspector enters and visually inspects occupied student residence units throughout the term, and vacant residence units at the end of the term.  The incumbent determines and records the condition and cleanliness of the units and any missing inventory, and provides recommendations for maintenance to be completed prior to units being cleaned and released for occupancy as needed.
