Research Interests

My research aspires to create ways for teachers and learners to orient themselves to pedagogical and scholarly practices that are grounded in relationality, ethicality, and self-location. My expertise is centered around pre-service and in-service teacher education and the ways in which Indigenous teaching and research methods can support students and teachers in exploring their own identities, taking inventory of their gifts, reflecting on their pasts, and finding belonging in communities. Other research interests of mine include: Language Arts and Social Studies curriculum and instruction; Social Justice Education; and Comics Based Research, (CBR) including the affordances of graphic texts in supporting ethical research practices and as sites of Indigenous resurgence.
