Curriculum & Instruction: Health Education and Active Living MEd - Fall 2020


The Master of Education (MEd) in Health Education and Active Living (HEAL) emphasizes active and interactive ways of maintaining health, vitality and well-being. It is designed for professionals who wish to integrate scholarly inquiry with their personal and professional aspirations.

  • Comprehend philosophies, theoretical frameworks, principles and practices of health promotion that are in keeping with the attainment of embodied well-being and the expression of vitality in active living.
  • Develop curricular and instructional understandings used to design, plan, implement and evaluate health promotion programs in schools, community settings and other institutional contexts.
  • Deepen understandings of Indigenous, holistic, healing traditions and their contributions to current theories and concepts of health, wellness, and community-engaged living.

Ideally Suited For

School-based health education and physical education teachers, community leaders, community leisure service workers, health care professionals, body-based therapists, hospital personnel such as dieticians and nurses, recreation leaders, holistic health practitioners and college instructors.

  • Classes: Fri. (4:30–9:00) + Sat. (8:30–4:30)/every 2-3weeks
