FREE TELESCOPE PROGRAM

Astronomy Workshop

Join us for a free family workshop at SFU's Trottier Observatory! You'll experience an astronomy-themed multimedia presentation, receive basic training on how to use a telescope and learn how to earn your own telescope through attending Starry Nights events.

Note: Registered groups must include at least one 10-18 year old.

  • To qualify for a free telescope, the named individual must obtain a loyalty card distributed only at astronomy workshops.
  • There can only be one name on the card and the owner must attend 1 astronomy workshop and 4 Star Parties to receive their telescope.
  • Cards must be stamped, dated and initialed by Starry Nights staff
  • One card will be issued per family
  • One telescope awarded per family
  • Photocopies of cards are not accepted
  • Cards are non-transferable
  • Participants named on the card must be physically present during an event to receive a stamp
  • This promotion runs while telescope supplies last
  • Item to be given out:  Meade Infinity 80 AZ plus Astronomical Telescope with slow motion controls
  • To claim your free telescope, please email sfuscienceoutreach@sfu.ca once you have earned all 5 stamps.  Make sure to bring your stamped card and proper identification on pick-up day.
  • Card holder must be a child between the ages of 10-18 years old.
