The Royal Society of Canada announced today that SFU mathematics professor Bojan Mohar is the recipient of the John L. Synge Award.

This national award recognizing outstanding research in any of the branches of the mathematical sciences was bestowed on Mohar for his deep and transformative work in topological graph theory.

Mohar holds a Canada Research Chair in graph theory at SFU and has won multiple awards for his work in combinatorics, graph theory, and theoretical computing.  He has published more than 250 journal publications and eight books or book chapters and was elected as a Fellow of the Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) earlier this year.

The Royal Society is Canada’s National Academy that recognizes scholars, artists and scientists in Canada who have made remarkable contributions to Canada.
