Mark LaLonde is the Chief Safety Officer for SFU. In this role he provides strategic leadership to the three service units in SRS. In addition to responsibility for management of these areas, he is responsible for providing senior executives with expert advice on a wide range of operational and strategic issues. He also gives strategic leadership in reviewing and developing practices, policies, and procedures that improve efficiencies and continuity of service delivery.

Andrea is a proven strategic leader in all matters of personal, community, institutional, and wider public safety, and security. During her first two years with Safety and Risk Services (SRS), and alongside COVID-19 response and recovery contributions like the CAT Program, Andrea led the early advancement of a more holistic community safety model for Campus Public Safety (CPS). This strategic security risk mitigation approach is designed to bolster the protective safeguarding of our institution and all who study, work, and live at SFU.

Jacqueline Toering

Jacqueline has held senior leadership roles in private and public sectors including publicly traded companies, most recently as the Director of Risk and Safety at the University of the Fraser Valley. Her responsibilities included risk management and safety, while incorporating the portfolios of security, emergency management, environmental health and safety, and enterprise risk management.

Melinda leads the development and delivery of Environmental Health & Research Safety programs, policies and services at the University. Melinda and her team of health & safety professionals work collaboratively with safety committees, academic, research and administrative units to develop policies and programs, support program implementation, and monitor programs for effectiveness and compliance with relevant legislation.
