Chief Safety Officer
Mark LaLonde is the Chief Safety Officer for SFU. In this role he provides strategic leadership to the three service units in SRS. In addition to responsibility for management of these areas, he is responsible for providing senior executives with expert advice on a wide range of operational and strategic issues. He also gives strategic leadership in reviewing and developing practices, policies, and procedures that improve efficiencies and continuity of service delivery.
Campus Public Safety
Tim Marron provides leadership for the public safety, resource protection and access control operations of the Campus Public Safety department at SFU. Working with a cadre of academic support professionals, all specializing in public safety within the higher education environment, Tim and his team facilitate crime prevention and personal safety programs, incident response, investigations, and the deployment of security technology to ensure that SFU continues to be a safe place to live, work and learn.
Enterprise Risk & Resilience
Laura leads the Enterprise Risk & Resilience department which comprises Risk Management, Emergency & Continuity Planning, and International Travel Safety. Laura and her team manage the University’s strategic approach to Enterprise Risk Management, business continuity planning, organizational resilience, insurance risk management, and emergency preparation, management and recovery.
Melinda leads the development and delivery of Environmental Health & Research Safety programs, policies and services at the University. Melinda and her team of health & safety professionals work collaboratively with safety committees, academic, research and administrative units to develop policies and programs, support program implementation, and monitor programs for effectiveness and compliance with relevant legislation.
