Chief Safety and Risk Officer
Galib Bhayani is a public safety champion and thrilled to join SFU, bringing an inclusive, community-centred approach to safety and risk management. In addition to a long career in community public safety, Galib has a deep academic background, having completed a doctorate in policing and community studies with a focus on police accountability, governance and reform from London Metropolitan University.
Campus Public Safety
Andrea is a proven strategic leader in all matters of personal, community, institutional, and wider public safety, and security. During her first two years with Safety and Risk Services (SRS), and alongside COVID-19 response and recovery contributions like the CAT Program, Andrea led the early advancement of a more holistic community safety model for Campus Public Safety (CPS). This strategic security risk mitigation approach is designed to bolster the protective safeguarding of our institution and all who study, work, and live at SFU.
Melinda leads the development and delivery of Environmental Health & Research Safety programs, policies and services at the University. Melinda and her team of health & safety professionals work collaboratively with safety committees, academic, research and administrative units to develop policies and programs, support program implementation, and monitor programs for effectiveness and compliance with relevant legislation.
Senior Director,Enterprise Risk and Resilience
Jacqueline is a highly motivated team player and leader with extensive experience in risk management, finance and audit, health and safety, insurance, captives and corporate governance. Jacqueline has held senior leadership roles in private and public sectors including publicly traded companies, most recently as the Director of Risk & Safety at the University of the Fraser Valley where her role brought together responsibility for risk management and safety, incorporating the portfolios of security, emergency management, environmental health and safety, and enterprise risk management.
