Dr. Yuthika Girme Awarded for Excellence in Teaching
Congratulations to Department of Psychology Associate Professor Dr. Yuthika Girme for achieving the 2022 Excellence in Teaching award! The Awards for Excellence in Teaching spotlights extraordinary instructors who go above and beyond in their role as an educator, leaving a meaningful impact on their students and the learning community.
Girme fosters engaged classroom environments by utilizing diverse and inclusive teaching methods such as mastery learning, class-based studies, student-led assignments, and an educational podcast (“Merlot with my Beau”). Through these efforts, she seeks to instill critical thinking skills, passion for education, and self-empowerment in her students. She returns to teaching Close Relationships (PSYC 362) and Individual Differences in Social Psychology (PSYC 361) in Fall 2023 and Spring 2024.
Outside of the classroom, Girme directs the Singlehood Experiences and Complexities Underlying Relationships (SECURE) Lab. Here, she and her research team uncover the intricacies of happiness and wellbeing related to intimate relationships.
