Dr. Yuthika Girme awarded SPSP Rusbult Early Career Investigator Award for her contributions to relationship science

February 20, 2024

The Society for Personality and Social Psychology (SPSP) Rusbult Early Career Investigator Award annually recognizes investigators early in their careers who have offered original and impactful contributions to relationship science.

Dr. Yuthika Girme is an associate professor and the director of the Singlehood Experiences and Complexities Underlying Relationships (SECURE) Lab. In an era where singlehood is increasingly common, there remains a significant gap in understanding what makes singlehood difficult or fulfilling. While supportive intimate relationships are known to correlate with improved mental and physical health, maintaining intimate relationships can be present its own set of challenges. Dr. Girme’s research takes a comprehensive look at the conditions under which both intimate relationships and singlehood are associated with challenges, and when people in intimate relationships and who are single can thrive.
