Yoon wins!

The SCA's Jin-me Yoon has won the 2022 Scotiabank Photography Award! For winning, she receives a "$50,000 cash prize, a solo Primary Exhibition during the 2023 Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival, and a published book of her work distributed worldwide by renowned art book publisher, Steidl." Pavsek in Utah

The SCA's Christopher Pavsek will be doing a residency this summer at the Taft-Nicholson Center for the Humanities of the University of Utah, located in the Centennial Valley of southwestern Montana, where he'll be working on a short experimental documentary about the Valley and taking photographs.

Marks on the radio and in The Walrus

The SCA's Laura Marks was on Edmonton's 630 CHED and Calgary's 770 CHQR on May 17, 2022, to talk to with host Shaye Ganam about the carbon footprint of the Internet. Marks also discussed the carbon footprint of the Internet in The Walrus' "ask an expert" column. Read it HERE.

Adler in Gem-like

The SCA's Barbara Adler is one of the collaborators, along with Stéphanie Cyr and Kiera Hill, in Lesley Telford and Inverso Productions' Gem-like, which is having its premiere from May 25 – 28, 2022, at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts. The show also includes a screening of a "short film version" of Inverso Productions' Spooky Action, filmed by David Cooper and featuring Stéphanie Cyr, Eden Solomon, text by Adler, and music by James Meger. SCA alumnus 2022 CAG Prize winners Debbie C and Sena Cleave's project The Couch is seeking submissions of small-scale art objects under the theme of Just Out of Reach, to be presented "in a living room" from July 15 – 22 as part of Unit/Pitt Society for Art & Critical Awareness' Wrong Wave Festival 2022.
