Contemporary Performance Practice program

Yoon's Long Time So Long

This Saturday, February 18, 2023: the SCA's Jin-me Yoon's exhibition, Long Time So Long at the Art Gallery, opens at Evergreen (1205 Pinetree Way #1, Coquitlam) from 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM, which includes a Korean-language Exhibition Tour from 1:00 PM – 1:30 PM, a conversation between Euijung McGillis, Assistant Curator of Photographs Collection at the National Gallery of Canada, and Yoon at 2:00 PM, and the Opening Reception itself from 3:30 PM –5:00 PM). Matreyek in a Taiko-packed day

SCA alumni Caroline MacCaull, Sammy Chien, and Davey Samuel Calderon and current SCA MA student Dale Macdonald are working on Mily Mumford's UNSCRIPTED: It Lives in My Bedroom, an "'art-house horror' immersive theatre experience," which runs Friday, February 17, 2023, at 7:30 PM at Progress Lab 1422, presented by Playwrights Theatre Centre (PTC). withintensions, the digital arts mag produced by SCA alumni, is calling for their next issue on Romance, with submissions due February 26, 2023. More HERE.

Louise Bentall Award for Emerging British Columbia Choreographers

DANCE HOUSE is accepting applications for the Louise Bentall Award for Emerging British Columbia Choreographers, which was created in memory of Louise Bentall, a long-time board member of DanceHouse and SCA alumnus who was dedicated to local arts and culture and other charitable work who passed in 2017. With a value of $10,000, the award is open to "individual emerging dance artists working in all styles of dance, including collaborative and/or multidisciplinary projects" (not including students, companies, collectives, or organizations). Applications are due March 15, 2023, and the inaugural winner will be announced May 5, 2023. Apply HERE.

Theatre Conspiracy's Same Difference

With SCA alumnus David Mesiha (Concept, Projection Design, Sound Design & Composition, Text), Milton Lim (Projection Co-Design, Co-Development), and Aryo Khakpour (Dramaturgy, Performance and Co-Development), Theatre Conspiracy's Same Difference, "an immersive mixed-media installation and digital performance examining themes of identity and belonging," is running February 15 – 25, 2023, at Toronto's Franco Boni Theatre (1115 Queen St. W), presented by The Theatre Centre.
