CAG Prize 2023: Kaila Bhullar and Hana Steinwand

The School for the Contemporary Arts at Simon Fraser University and the Contemporary Art Gallery are pleased to announce the winners of the 2023 CAG Prize: Kaila Bhullar and Hana Steinwand. Their work is currently included in the BFA Graduating Exhibition 2023: Dream Safely, which runs to May 6, 2023, at SFU Galleries’ Audain Gallery (SFU Goldcorp Centre for the Arts, 149 W. Hastings St., Vancouver).

The CAG Prize is adjudicated by the Contemporary Art Gallery and is awarded yearly to an outstanding BFA student upon completion of their program of study in Visual Art at the SCA. The Prize entails a four-week self-directed residency in CAG's North Gallery space, providing the recipient with a stipend, studio space, and support to further develop their practice as well as the opportunity to expand their connections to a wider arts community in Vancouver. Over the course of the residency, the recipient will have the opportunity to speak one-on-one with artists and curators about their practice, build on their professional skills, and gain insight into the framework of a public art gallery. This year the award is being offered to two students, therefore each will receive separate residencies to be scheduled within the next 12 months.

Congratulations to Kaila and Hana!
