Kimia Koochakzadeh's Displacement II

Writing in the the Georgia Straight, Alexander Varty published some great press about SCA music student Kimia Koochakzadeh, whose work Displacement II is being premiered by flutist Mark Takeshi McGregor and clarinetist Liam Hockley at a Vancouver New Music concert at the Orpheum Annex on February 16, 2019. Remember this name: Kimia Koochakzadeh Yazdi. Although she’s only a second-year composition student at SFU, the Iranian-born musician is poised to make a significant impact on the Canadian and international new-music scene—if she can continue writing pieces as distinctive and engaging as Displacement II.
