Apply to Block A

Apply to Block A with Playwright Theatre Centre (which has SCA alumni Melanie Yeats as Creative Managing Director and Davey Samuel Calderon

Block A is for emerging playwrights/theatre creators and established writers of other mediums excited to write for the stage to work together in a cohort to develop their writing with the support of a senior playwright mentor.

Each Block A cohort of six writers meet for ten weeks with their mentor who offers fundamentals of writing for performance and helps engage their cohort to be creatively generative and supportive of each other’s writing. The content and flow of Block A depends on the varied interests of the writers and the playwright mentor, who integrates their own practices and inspirations into the sessions. They learn from each other and get a sense of the collaborative nature of theatre-making. We nurture socially-engaged and aware theatre artists within our current theatre landscape.
