Light of a Thousand Stars

The Bucket Collective, which includes the SCA's Chris Chong Chan Fui, is presenting a "shorts program," Light of a Thousand Stars, on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM, at The Cinematheque (1131 Howe St., Vancouver). Scott Miller Berry and Faraz Anoushahpour, who are part of of the programming collective for the Diffusion Festival, will be in attendance to present the films, and they'll hold a "talk back" session after the screenings, too. Shihab in Regarding Land

Maier and May's Bellows in Paris

The SCA's Stefan Maier and Ragnhild May are premiering a new version their concert installation, Bellows, on September 30, 2025, at Église Saint-Eustache (146, rue Rambuteau 75001 Paris), presented as part of the Festival d'Automne. Edge Effects opens the Gibson!

Edge Effects, the inaugural exhibition of the Marianne and Edward Gibson Art Museum at SFU's Burnaby Campus, opens Saturday, September 20, 2025, 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM, and includes work by SCA alumni Lorna Brown, Lucien Durey, and Cindy Mochizuki, SCA PhD student Elisa Ferrari, the SCA's Justine A. Stir on The Array: Less Than Zero

SCA alumni Patrick Blenkarn and Milton Lim, who's collaborative performance / video game assess.masses is seemingly touring everywhere, were interviewed by Catharine Stimpson, a University Professor at New York University and Dean Emeritus of the Graduate School of Arts and Science, for NYU Skirball. Rahi's Building Together II and at the New Media Gallery

SCA PhD student George Rahi is facilitating a 4-part self-made instrument workshop series, Building Together II: Acoustic Reactions, presented by the Currently Arts Society, which is now accepting applications – and no experience is required! What you create will be presented at the 2025 edition of Music on Main's Modulus Festival, which runs November 7 – 10. The series runs October 6 – November 10, and the application deadline is September 23, 2025. More HERE. Also, Rahi is the Artist in Residence at the New Media Gallery (777 Columbia St., New Westminster), and is hosting a "studio visit" on October 4 from 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM, leading up to an exhibition opening on Thursday, November 13 and a reception and artist talk on November 17, 2025, from 5:30 PM – 8:00 PM. Indigenous Protocols for the Visual Arts is a new website full of useful resources and links to a podcast, hosted by Liz Barron, from CARFAC and an Advisory Circle of "First Nations, Inuit, and Métis artists and Traditional Knowledge Keepers and Practitioners." Check it out HERE.
