Yoon's GG!
Big congratulations to the SCA's Jin-me Yoon, who was one of the winners of a 2025 Governor General’s Awards in Visual and Media Arts! Amazing! More HERE.
Maier's getting active
Michelle Helene Mackenzie and the SCA's Stefan Maier's Orchid Mantis, "a work that draws its inspiration from the history of the Sanzhi Pod City, in northern Taiwan," is available now from GRM Portraits. Sample it on Bandcamp HERE. Maier will also be perfoming at Berlin's KM28 on April 16 in a duo with Michelle Lou, and solo at Berlin's PAS on April 17 for a "label night" for Party Perfect. He'll then be a composer in residence at EMS in Stockholm from April 28 – May 12, 2025, and then heading to Denmark for a residency at the Sound Art Lab in June. More shows are in the works, too, he says.
Shifting Perspectives: Maps, Spaces, Places and the Urban 2024-2025
The SCA's Sabine Bitter has shared information about Shifting Perspectives: Maps, Spaces, Places and the Urban 2024-2025, a collaborative project by Bitter, Helmut Weber, and Huda Lutfi, which is part of the larger international project IMAGINE CLIMATE DIGNITY, curated by Barbara Höller and Simon Mraz, at the Künstlerhaus, Vienna, from February 28 – June 9, 2025. IMAGINE CLIMATE DIGNITY is supported by the Austrian Ministry for European and International Affairs, the Austrian Cultural Forums, and the Künstlerhaus Vereinigung, and with research and an exhibition in Cairo supported by the Austrian Cultural Forum Cairo. How to Disappear Completely
Itai Erdal's How to Disappear Completely, created in collaboration with the SCA's James Long (who is also the Director), Anita Rochon, and Emelia Symington Fedy, is running at The Cultch's Historic Theatre (1895 Venables St., Vancouver) from March 12 – 22, 2025, presented by The Chop Theatre in collaboration with The Elbow Theatre. Arias finds Radul in the archive
Artist researcher Manuele Arias, who is working with grunt gallery and Hemispheric Encounters as their artist-researcher-in-residence, "exploring and engaging with grunt’s archive," produced a "a ready-to-print zine with excerpts from some of their favourite artist statements," including by the SCA's Judy Radul.
