Chambers and Tacata talk Patterning
The SCA's Justine A. Chambers and Ryan Tacata are teaming up on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, from 7:00 – 8:00 PM, at The Dance Centre (677 Davie St, Vancouver), for "Edition #1: Patterning" of Dance Dialogues, The Dance Centre's "new series of talks where artists and scholars delve into the ideas, practices, and provocations that shape contemporary dance and art-making." Maier plays Sound and Fluids

Crazybull is a finalist for the Kingston Prize
SCA alumnus Lauren Crazybull is a finalist for the 2025 Kingston Prize, "a Canada-wide competition and exhibition tour for Canadian portrait painting and drawing." The 2025 Kingston Prize exhibition featuring the finalists runs November 8 – 14, 2025, at the Arta Gallery (14 Distillery Lane, Toronto), and the winner and two honourable mentions will be announced on November 14. SCA MFA student Lee Su-Feh wrote about Today is the evening to strike lightning/Aaj To Bijiliyan Girane Ki Shaam Hai, a collaborative dance work choreographed by the SCA's Justine A Chambers and Simran Sachar, for Rungh. Presented as part of the 2025 edition of the Indian Summer Festival, Today is the evening to strike lightning/Aaj To Bijiliyan Girane Ki Shaam Hai was performed by Sachar. Read it HERE.

BEE, a mixed media animated film from unladylike co. (the interdisciplinary multi-media production company formed by SCA alumni Jessica Hood and Rachelle Miguel), featuring music and Foley sound by SCA alumnus Cindy Kao, SCA alumnus Pedro Chamale as Director of Photography and Editor, and animation by Hood and Via Litz, is screening October 10 – 12, 2025, at the Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre (181 Roundhouse Mews, Vancouver), presented as part of the Vancouver Outsider Arts Festival.

Five Blessings' auditions
Five Blessings, the collaborative group of SCA alumni Nancy Tam, Derek Chan, and Howard Dai, plus Robyn Jacob and Jasmine Chen, are "looking for intermediate to advanced Cantonese speakers for all characters (must be able to work locally in Vancouver), who can participate in studio recording sessions as well as live reading events," for their upcoming A Year of Blessings in Cantonese production. Carol Sawyer's Grimm Future
Drawing on 20th century illustrations of European fairy tales and 15th century Netherlandish paintings, Grimm Future, a new three channel video and sound project by SCA alumnus Carol Sawyer (with SCA alumnus Stevan Oostenbrug working behind the scenes and sound design by the SCA's Stefan Schmulovitz), is premiering at Kamloops' Luminocity, an outdoor video art exhibition that runs October 18 – 25, 2025. Diane Hau Yu Wong, Centre A’s Artistic Director, joins SCA alumni Casey Wei, Lauraine Mak, and Jaewoo Kang are holding an artist talk and guided tour of their exhibition, World as Tripod, on Saturday, October 25, from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM, at Centre A (Unit 205 – 268 Keefer St., Vancouver). Edge Effects events
The Gibson Art Museum is holding an Open Studio Saturday tomorrow (October 11, 2025), from 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM, in their Tuey Art Studio, with Karen Thảo La leading "free art-making activities for kids ages 3-12," inspired by the work of Sameer Farooq and Jared Stanley, who are part of the exhibition Edge Effects, which runs to February 15, 2026. BLOT on tour
SCA alumnus Vanessa Goodman and Simona Deaconescu's BLOT – Body Line of Thought, performed by Simona Dabija and Maria Luiza Dimulescu, is coming to Seattle, Vancouver (October 23 & 24, 2025, at 7:00 PM, at Morrow), Calgary, Edmonton, and Regina. Also, Goodman and Deaconescu will begin developing their second collaboration, Future Alternates, in a residency supported by The Dance Centre, working with again with Dabija and Dimulescu, as well as Allison Lang and SCA alumni Shion Skye Carter.
