Woyno R and Scott talk Romeo and Juliet

Watch the SCA's Wladimiro A. Woyno Rodriguez and Amelia Scott talk with Vancouver Symphony Orchestra's Otto Tausk about the amazing shadow work, projections, and lighting they and their team of performers (including a great team of other SCA folks) are presenting to support the VSO's performance of Romeo and Juliet, which runs tonight, November 19, 2021, at 7:00 PM. Boisjoly talks with Bonin and Park

The SCA's Raymond Boisjoly is having a online conversation on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at 10:00 AM with author and independent curator Vincent Bonin, discussing Boisjoly's exhibition Some Number of Things, which is running at the Catriona Jeffries Gallery until December 18, 2021. He'll also be in conversation with Liz Park, the Curator of Contemporary Art at the Carnegie Museum of Art, on Saturday, December 4 at 10:00 AM. More HERE.

The Biting School's Orangutang

The Biting School's Orangutang, presented as part of The Dance Centre's Dance In Vancouver 2021 programing on November 24 – 27 & December 1 – 4 at 7:00 PM at the Russian Hall (600 Campbell Avenue), is a solo performance by Arash Khakpour. But behind the scenes, it also features SCA alumni and current Sessional Instructor (and the other half of the Biting School) Aryo Khakpour (Dramaturg), plus SCA alumni Hamidreza Jadid (Set Designer), Alex Mah (Composer), Jonathan Kim (Lighting Designer), and Luciana D’Anunciação (Photographer), and non-SCA folks Raïna von Waldenburg (Creative Consultant), Elika Mojtabaei (Costume Designer), and Amanda Parafina (Producing Stage Manager). Durey sings Music for the Winter Solstice

SCA alumni Lucien Durey joins a great group of other performers for Music on Main's upcoming holiday tradition, Music for the Winter Solstice, presented live and in-person at Heritage Hall on December 15 & 16, 2021, at 7:30 PM, and eventually via online video from December 18, 2021 – January 6, 2022. Dongnier at MAXforum and McaM

On November 7, 2021, the SCA's NiNi Dongnier joined Media Art Xploration's MAXforum Road to Recovery to discuss how she and her team uses choreography, codified rules of interaction, and machine learning to help audiences slow down, absorb information differently, and inspire attitudes of attention and care. Also, Dongnier's performance and video, Field Record 4: Every Motion is a Ritual, is currently screening at the Shanghai Ming Contemporary Art Museum (McaM 明当代美术馆) from November 12 to December 10, 2021. As part of the Back to Stage: McaM 5th Anniversary Art Festival, her work is presented within one of the three Screening Projects – Nomadic Body. More HERE.

Join SCA alumni and Playwrights Theatre Centre's Dramaturg, Public Engagement Davey Samuel Calderon as co-host with Zahida Rahemtulla, PTC's New Play in Development Prize winner for Unscripted: The Frontliners (online on November 19, 2021, from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM), discussing "working on the frontlines during the intake of refugees to Canada."
