Bricolage ...within reach

Just a celebratory shout out to all of the students who participated in and ran Bricolage ...within reach, the SCA Fasion Show & Fundraiser on Saturday, December 6, 2025, in the Wong Experimental Theatre here at the SCA, which was facilitated by the SCA's Erika Latta and SCA student Sara van Gaalen. Also, a shout out to everyone who attended, too. Pay Your People 2025

Wax Factory, co-directed by the SCA's Erika Latta and Ivan Talijancic, has received a "Deep Roots" grant at IndieSpace's annual "Big Give" event. More HERE.

Bellows in Denmark

Ragnhild May and the SCA's Stefan Maier are performing a specially adapted version of their collaborative work, Bellows, on Friday, December 12, 2025, at KoncertKirken (Blågårds Pl. 6A, 2200 København, Denmark), presented as part of Organ Sound Art Festival. More HERE.

Space is a Problem (for the Image)

The SCA's Sabine Bitter and her longtime collaborator Helmut Weber presented the talk, "Space is a Problem (for the Image)," on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, for the Social Design program at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. More HERE.

VIDF passes

Passes go on sale on December 10, 2025, for the 2026 edition of the Vancouver International Dance Festival (VIDF), which has SCA alumnus Deanna Peters as Artistic Director. More HERE.

The Gibson Art Museum, led by Kimberly Phillips (who's also Associate Faculty here at the SCA), is looking to hire an Art Studio Lead. Find out more HERE.

Dai on Wong

While she didn't win the 2025 Siminovitch Prize (Ravi Jain received that honor and the $100,000 award), should she have won, Siminovitch finalist and SCA alumnus Adrienne Wong had chosen SCA alumnus Howard Dai to be her Siminovitch Prize-sharing "Protégé," which would have given him $25,000. As it turns out, Miriam Fernandes was selected by Jain – congratulations to them both! But still, Dai shared this thoughtful appreciation post about Adrienne, just the same. While vAct Creation Lab Readings

The Vancouver Asian Canadian Theatre (VACT), which has SCA alumnus Derek Chan as Managing Artistic Director, is presenting its annual Creation Lab Readings on December 9 & 10, 2025, at 7:00 PM, at the Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre (181 Roundhouse Mews, Vancouver), featuring new works-in-progress by Tanya Banerjee and elika mojtabaei (with SCA alumni ellis cheadle and Aryo Khakpour as collaborators, and SCA alumnus Cindy Kao as composer and sound designer). "Early English" TCR tote

Just in time for your gift-giving consideration, The Capilano Review, with SCA alumnus Jacquelyn Zong-Li Ross as Art Editor, has a new tote bag featuring “Early English” by bpNichol, which TCR published in 1990 as part of "44 Concrete Poems," a folio by bpNichol. Limited stock! More HERE.

Stir on the Gibson

Tedlie-Stursberg's Coastal Formal

HAVEN, a Vancouver-based menswear brand, has shared a profile of SCA alumnus Alex Tedlie-Stursberg, featuring a collection of nice images and a video interview, that's also announcing an exhibition by Tedlie-Stursberg, called Coastal Formal, which is presented in collaboration with the Monte Clark Gallery at HAVEN (355 Railway St, Vancouver) until December 21, 2025. Bitter Magazine

SFU Publishing MPub students Erin Staley and Olivia MacDonald are Co-Editors-in-Chief of the new literary magazine, "Bitter Magazine," which "seeks out work that isn’t afraid to be controversial and unsettling." Find out more, and maybe submit something, HERE.

Steady as You 定定仔行

SCA student Vanessa Lefan, Shuchan Chiu, Jacqueline Teh, Yizy Chiou co-wrote Steady as You 定定仔行, a song dedicated to their grandmothers, which they debuted at the 2025 edition of the Jade Music Festival in Vancouver. Watch the performance HERE.
