Volume 41 / Issue 2 of Dance Central, the quarterly publication from The Dance Centre, features a review by the SCA's Peter Dickinson of SCA alumnus Jeanette Kotowich's BOLT, presented as part of VIDF 2026 (organized by SCA alumnus Deanna Peters), as well as Shanny Ran on FCAT's Tessa Perkins Deneault, Em Pettet, Alana Gerecke, and SCA alumnus Carolina Bergonzoni's online survey, "Toward a sustainable future for critical dance writing in Canada," which they organized to inform their roundtable discussion as part of the 2026 Canadian Association for Theatre Research conference. Submit to GEMFest
GEMS Vancouver have asked us to share about the new extended deadline of September 15, 2026, for submissions to GEMFest, their international film festival. Running March 2027 in Vancouver, only films completed after March 2025 are eligible. Also, "all films submitted must have a woman or gender-diverse Director, in addition to at least two women or gender-diverse creatives from the following key creative roles: Writer, Producer, Cinematographer, Editor, Composer, Lead Performer, and Production Designer." SCA PhD student Elisa Ferrari, one of the hosts of soundscape on Vancouver Co-op Radio (CFRO 100.5), will be featuring SCA MFA student Wyldie Bracewell on an episode on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, from 9:00 PM – 10:00 PM, playing some of Bracewell's music and sharing excerpts from a conversation she and Bracewell recorded last year.
