SCA in the Fringe

There are three SCA fronted shows (two with SCA folks also behind the scenes) in the 2026 edition of the Vancouver Fringe Festival, running September 10 – 20: SCA alumnus Marita Michaelis' LIVE IN HELL, with SCA alumni Lauren Han and Alexandra McDougall as Creative Producers and Co-Directors and Davey Calderon as Dramaturg; SCA alumnus Samantha Li's The Walk of Shame, developed while at the SCA, with SCA alumni Garvin Chan as Producer, Bernice Paet as Stage Manager, and Colleen Bayati as Lighting/Sound Designer; and SCA alumnus Jhoely Triana's Las Mujeronas. I Will Walk in the Wilderness of This World

Read I Will Walk in the Wilderness of This World: Three Films by Parine Jaddo, a text by the SCA's Nadia Shihab to accompany a screening of Jaddo's Atash (Thirst), Aisha (Surviving), and Teyh (Astray) on August 7, 2026, as part of DIFFUSION, the re:assemblage collective's "annual gathering of experimental non-fiction" in so-called Toronto. HEIST

The SCA's Wladimiro Woyno Rodriguez (Projection Designer) and SCA alumnus Sophie Tang (Lighting Designer) are part of the creative team for the Arts Club Theatre Company's B.C. Premiere of Arun Lakra's HEIST, running September 17 – October 18, 2026, at the Stanley BFL CANADA Stage (2750 Granville St, Vancouver). More HERE.

The Dance Centre's 2026-27 Season

Here's Stir Vancouver on The Dance Centre's 2026-27 Season, which is also their 40th Anniversary, featuring SCA alumnus Tasha Faye Evans's Cedar Woman, running October 1 to 3, and, working with Moonhorse Dance Theatre, the SCA's Justine A. Chambers and Allison Cummings have curated three new short works, performed by Jennifer Dahl and Andrea Nann, Johanna Householder and Margaret Dragu, and Chambers and Cummings. Read more HERE.

Tour Before and Inside: Three Textured Views

If you're in Vienna, gezwanzig (Gumpendorfer Str. 20, 1060 Wien, Austria) are hosting guided tours of the SCA's Sabine Bitter and Helmut Weber's exhibition, Before and Inside: Three Textured Views, curated by Walter Seidl, on August 11 and 19, 2026. More HERE.

TPE's 2026-27 Season

Turning Point Ensemble, which has the SCA's Owen Underhill as Artistic Director and conductor, have announced their 2026-27 Season, which includes Rudolf Komorous at 95, dedicated to Komorous' extensive career (which included serving as the Director of the SCA from 1989 to 1994). The SCA's Eldritch Priest's new record of solo piano works (performed by Roger Admiral), too, so like nothing, and no one asked us yet, the debut album by Raymond Roussel, the trio of the SCA's Eldritch Priest and Brady Cranfield and James Meger, are both out August 21, 2026, from Halocline Trance. Neumann on the mic

The SCA's Emily Neumann will be doing their first ever stand-up routine as part of the Langara Comedy Clinic Grad on August 13, 2026, at 9:00 PM on the Salazar Stage (Main floor) at the Little Mountain Gallery Comedy (110 Water St, Vancouver). Get Tickets HERE.

Light Through Scars

SCA alumnus Ghinwa Yassine is part of the exhibition Light Through Scars, which runs to September 19, 2026, at the Penticton Art Gallery (199 Marina Way, Penticton, BC). More HERE.

Walker in the Fireside Room

SCA alumnus Taryn Walker is the Deer Lake Artist in Residence this August, working in the Fireside Room at the Burnaby Art Gallery, creating new work for a group exhibition at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, running September 14 – November 16, 2026.

War & Bedtime

SCA alumni Natalia Martineau⁠ and Torien Cafferata are part of War & Bedtime, the July Project 2026 Showcase, on August 21, 2026, at 7:00 PM, at What Lab (1814 Pandora St, Vancouver). More HERE.

Everything has a hole

Everything has a hole by Lois Brown and SCA alumnus James O'Callaghan is running Saturday, August 15, at 7:00 PM (for an open dress rehearsal and a discussion) and Sunday, August 16, at 2:00 PM (with a panel and presentation on "touring and dissemination" moderated by Pat Foran), at LSPU Hall (3 Victoria St, St. John's, NL). SummerWorks Performance Festival

With SCA alumni Brian Postalian as Festival Producer and Jessica Han as Technical Director, Toronto's SummerWorks Performance Festival runs August 6 – 16, 2026, and includes SCA alumnus Keely O’Brien's Secret Ingredients project on Saturday, August 15, at 7:00 PM, and Sunday, August 16, at 3:00 PM, in the BMO Incubator at the Theatre Centre (1115 Queen Street West, Toronto). Springboard: Emerging Artistic Producers workshop

Vancouver Asian Canadian Theatre (VACT), which has SCA alumnus Anjela Magpantay as Managing Artistic Director, is calling for participants for their free Springboard: Emerging Artistic Producers workshop, running September 15 – 17, 2026, at the BMO Theatre Centre (162 West 1st Ave, Vancouver), Registrations close August 28! Wood talks theatre, zombies, and mental health

SCA alumnus Scott Morgan / Loscil is heading out on tour again.
