Re-Orientation Day is an all-day event designed to welcome SCA students, faculty, and staff back to campus for the fall semester by focusing our attention on a particular theme or conversation.

On September 10, after a one-year hiatus, Re-Orientation Day returns, bringing together artists and scholars on the theme of planetary change.

Geographical Futuring celebrates the interdisciplinary arts taught at our School in the context of Vancouver’s vibrant arts scene, and includes a field trip to the Vancouver Art Gallery to view the exhibition Future Geographies: Art in the Century of Climate Change. Re-Orientation Day 2026 offers the chance to do something new, discover different perspectives, and experience how the arts can help us better understand the world in which we live.

Organized by Denise Oleksijczuk. With Dr. T’uy’t’tanat Cease Wyss, Peter Dickinson, Eva Respini, Andrea Valentine-Lewis, Gabrielle L’Hirondelle Hill, Rob Kitsos, Sarah Finn, Alexis Tsegba, Talia Haddon, Illia Rennie, Taylor Zhou, Rowan O’Callaghan, and Matteo Giannetta.

VAG Tour

If you'd like to attend the tour of Future Geographies: Art in the Century of Climate Change at the Vancouver Art Gallery, it is NECESSARY to RSVP for tickets in advance. There will be two ticket options: Over 19 and Under 19. Under 19 tickets will be free, and the SCA is covering the cost of the Over 19 tickets. Please remember to bring your ID to the gallery. Also, while the VAG has a bag and coat check, please consider not bringing large bags to the gallery unless necessary. Not checking bags and coats will help the tour run in a timely way.
