SCA Fall 2019 Orientation

Friday August 30, 2019 | 2:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Djavad Mowafaghian World Art Centre
2nd floor, SFU Goldcorp Centre for the Arts
149 West Hastings Street, Vancouver

Please join us for an introduction to the School for the Contemporary Arts at SFU. With dance, film, music, theatre, visual art, and all of the other resources and opportunities in the school, we have a lot of interrelated parts to cover and get to know.

Our Keynote presenters for the event will be SCA film alumni Gloria Mercer and Aidan West, who together are also the production and development group See Horse Films. Mercer and West's recent co-produced project, Hekademia, which Mercer also wrote and directed, has been awarded support from the National Film Board of Canada's Filmmaker Assistance Program, and will be ready to submit to Canadian and international film festivals this fall.

SCA’s Orientation is also presented with the assistance of the school’s Student Unions, who will be holding a panel discussion at the end to give you a firsthand student perspective on the SCA. We will then all "break out" for snacks and conversation.

RSVP HERE

And feel free to bring your folks or friends if you want. All are welcome!

Please note: this is a different event than the main SFU Orientation on August 29 at the Burnaby Campus. If you have time to attend both, that’s great, but this event is highly recommended for all new SCA students.

Schedule

2:00 p.m. — Main Presentation, 2nd floor, Djavad Mowafaghian World Art Centre
4:00 p.m. — Break-out/Meet and mingle, 4th floor, Rm 4390
