SMALL FILE 2022 is nigh

While the Small File Media Festival's Ultra Dance Party on August 12, featuring. Devours, HiNi, and JPEG 2000, is sure to be a rather grand, fun, and climactic part of the overall Third Annual Small File Media Festival, which runs August 9 – 14 here at our place, it's only one sweet part of the altogether delightful programming the Small File team has organized this year. Marks talks indivisible

In response to the exhibition indivisible, running June 5 – August 14, 2022, at the New Media Gallery, SCA's Laura Marks will be in conversation with Dr. Monika Stachura from TRIUMF, "Canada's national particle accelerator centre," on Monday, August 8, from 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM (PDT), moderated by Sharad Khare, the co-Founder of Human Biography. Big City's Vicious video

SCA alumnus Krystle Silverfox is hard at work "in the red culture cabin" at Whitehorse's Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre, where she was a 2020/2021 Shakaat Artist-in-Residence. More HERE.

McMann's Incandescent Tails in Vancouver

SCA alumnus Jessica McMann's Incandescent Tails tour is in Vancouver tonight – Friday, August 5, 2022 – at the at the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden, presented by re:Naissance Opera as part of the Awaken Chinatown: Enchanted Evenings Concert series. More HERE.

Fay Nass, an SCA alumnus and Artistic & Executive Director of the frank theatre company, and Love Intersections' Jen Sungshine have collaborated on What If, a "Short Film on Language & Queerness," which is premiering online on August 22, 2022. More HERE.

Follow The Couch

The Indigenous Tutoring & Mentoring Program

Are any SCA folks up for this call: The Indigenous Tutoring & Mentoring Program (2021 SFU Student-Community Engagement Competition Grand Award Winner) is currently seeking undergraduate students to serve as volunteer tutors/mentors. Volunteers will receive credit on their co-curricular record for taking part. More HERE.

We Were One in Kassel

Chimerik 似不像 collective members and SCA alumni Sammy Chien and Caroline MacCaull are in Kassel, Germany, presenting their project We Were One as part of MotionDAO, a residency at K.Format that explores international and collective creative experimentation using Web3 technologies. The Big Bad Wolf at Vines

The Big Bad Wolf, with SCA alumni Valerie Christiansen, Davey Samuel Calderon, and Janelle Reid, is one of many great events (and not the only one to feature SCA folks) to see as part of the 2022 Vines Art Festival, which runs August 3 to 13. More HERE.

Carter and Turnbull's Omote (面)

SCA alumnus Shion Skye Carter and her collaborator Miya Turnbull are presenting their film, Omote (面), as part of the group exhibition, Fashion for Bank Robbers, which runs until October 16, 2022, at Munich's MaximiliansForum. More HERE.

While also very active under the name Wallgrin, SCA alumnus Tegan Wahlgren is also active in other ways as a composer, vocalist, and violinist. Check out her newly updated website (separate from her one for her Wallgrin project) to see what she's up to.
