Slade in the VAG collection

Congratulations to the SCA’s Kathy Slade, whose two 2020 large tapestry works, After Agnolo Bronzino, Portrait of a Young Man and After Agnolo Bronzino, Portrait of Laura Battiferra, have been added to the collection at the Vancouver Art Gallery. More about the works, which were first presented in a three person exhibition with Nadia Belerique and Jeneen Frei Njootli at the Kunstverein Braunschweig, Germany, in 2021 HERE.

Lamoureux in Looking at the Garden Fence

Presented by the Western Front, with support from the Vines Art Festival and the Contemporary Art Gallery, Vivienne Bessette and Derya Akay's website project Looking at the Garden Fence features participation from SCA alumnus and Vines festival organizer and founder Heather Lamoureux. Peters and Fredriksson in Left of PuSh

SCA alumnus Deanna Peters has an upcoming online show, When I look at the camera, I'm looking at you, on January 30, 2022, at 4:00 PM (PST), presented as part of the plastic orchid factory's Left of PuSh festival, which also includes SCA alumnus Emmalena Fredriksson's Oh Well in-person on January 28, 2022, at 6:00 PM at Left of Main. Sleeper calling

SCA alumnus Clint Sleeper and Unrequited Leisure, an "experimental curatorial project and exhibition space" in Nashville, Tennessee, are calling for single channel projects to join their "Especially Flat File," to become a "repository for works curated into thematic exhibitions during our 2022 season." Submissions are due January 30, 2022. More HERE.

A Light Footprint in the Cosmos

The SCA's Laura Marks and the rest of the team in the Substantial Motion Research Network are calling for scholarly and artistic presentations for their upcoming conference, A Light Footprint in the Cosmos, which will be held here with us on June 24 – 27, 2022. More HERE.

Ariaratnam's Music for Spirits – postponed

SCA alumnus Matthew Ariaratnam curated Music for Spirits, a performance series for the Carnegie Community Centre, which was set to feature other SCA alumni Lief Hall and George Rahi (Gamelan Bike Bike), has been postponed following the recent BC health rules. Check back HERE for updates.

SCA in Songs for a Lost Pod

Co-presented by Music on Main and the PuSh Festival, Leah Abramson's Songs for a Lost Pod, running February 2 & 3, 2022, at 7:00 PM, features the SCA's Professional Development Coordinator and SCA alumnus Barbara Adler (narrator and dramaturgy), SCA Theatre Production & Design faculty and SCA alumnus Kyla Gardiner (lighting design), and SCA alumnus Megan Stewart (director & dramaturg). McMann plays and curates

Watch SCA alumnus Jessica McMann perform Veni Emmanuel, one of her "favourite carols from the 15th century," on her Facebook page HERE.
