SCA at the Climate Strike!

SCA students, faculty, and staff participated in the Global Climate Strike on Friday, September 27, 2019. A noisy but positive march organized by the SCA's Laura Marks and David Biddle left to meet the growing crowds at Vancouver City Hall after assembling signs and banners in the lobby of the school, joining an estimated 100,000 people in Vancouver and 7.6 million people worldwide. The strike was inspired by the galvanizing work of sixteen-year-old Swedish activist, Greta Thunberg, as well as other hardworking young activists, including the water activist and chief water commissioner of the Anishinabek Nation Autumn Peltier from Wiikwemkoong First Nation on Manitoulin Island, who addressed the UN the day after the Global Climate Strike – 'We can't eat money or drink oil!'

Embedded here is a video produced by SFU's The Peak Newspaper about the day's events and a collection of photographs from SCA's march by SCA MFA candidate Xinyue Liu.
