The Great Leap

SCA alumni Milton Lim is the lead in the Arts Club Theatre Company's production of The Great Leap, a cross-cultural, sports-themed 1980s period piece by playwright Lauren Yee. Lim plays Manford, "a kid with hustle from San Francisco’s Chinatown who makes up for his short stature with tenacious baller skill." Manford participates in an exhibition basketball game in Beijing, China, under the direction of Chinese coach Wen Chang, who's described as a "quiet Party supporter," with Chairman Mao Zedong's dramatic, transformative Great Leap Forward in the backdrop. The play also features projections by SCA alumni Sammy Chien and Chimerik 似不像, the media production collective Chein co-founded and co-directs with his brother Shang-Han, which now also includes current SCA student Ivan So in it's crew.

The Great Leap runs April 25–May 19, 2019, at the Goldcorp Stage at the BMO Theatre Centre (203 – 162 West 1st Avenue, Vancouver). Read more about the production and buy tickets HERE.
