Dickinson's Honourable Mention

The SCA's Peter Dickinson's book My Vancouver Dance History: Story, Movement, Community (McGill-Queen's University Press | 2020) received an Honourable Mention for the 2022 Ann Saddlemyer Award for Best Book in Theatre and Performance Studies from the Canadian Association for Theatre Research. Congrats, Peter!

Anderson and Eigenfeldt at ICMC 2022

The SCA's Christopher Anderson, our Graduate Program Assistant and also an alumnus, is presenting OntoTheNextCount, a new piece for trombone and an interactive generative system at Flannery's Pub in Limerick, Ireland, on July 5 as part of the 2022 International Computer Music Conference. SCA alumnus Anchi Lin (Ciwas Tahos) is presenting Perhaps she comes from/to__Alang from June 23 – July 10, 2022, at the Ō Papa Gallery (ground Floor of CoCA at 66 Gloucester Street, Christchurch), presented by New Zealand's The Physics Room. More HERE. Also, Lin was part of the Yipei Lee curated Wagiwagi Art Labs exhibition at documenta 15, which grabbed a mention in Germany's Der Spiegel (paywall!).

SCA in A Midsummer Night’s Dream

SCA student dancers Emily Bosak, Emma Miebach, Polina Olshevska, Elyza Samson, Shäolin Temrick-Young, and Anna Wang-Albini and SCA alumni Billy Marchenski (Philostrate/Oberon), Tara Cheyenne Friedenberg (Choreographer & Movement Coach), and Tasha Faye Evans (Creative Consultant) are all part of Bard on the Beach’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, which runs June 8 – September 24, 2022. Popcorn Galaxies' Perfect Strangers

Popcorn Galaxies (SCA alumni June Fukumura and Keely O’Brien), working with SCA alumni Cindy Mochizuki and Daniel O’Shea and Sophia Wolfe, are presenting Perfect Strangers, "a site-responsive micro-performance which explores themes of intimacy, human connection, and friendship," at Common Ground Arts Society's Found Festival, which runs July 7 – 10, 2022, at various sites in so-called Edmonton. Mesiha's Same Difference in Edinburgh

SCA alumnus and Theatre Conspiracy Artistic Director David Mesiha's Same Difference is one of the projects selected to be showcased at the 2022 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, supported by the Canada Council for the Arts, the Department of Canadian Heritage, and the High Commission of Canada in the United Kingdom. Tong's Environment mon amour
