Skoden Indigenous Film Festival press

Listen to the SCA's Carr Sappier and Kathleen Mullen, co-teachers and co-directors of this year's Skoden Indigenous Film Festival, talk about the festival on SFU's CJSF 90.1's Oh No Radio, hosted by SCA MA student Joseph "Joey Chaos" Malbon . Alzamora-Rivera and Chin's Green Alter Egos

SCA MA student Mar Alzamora-Rivera (text) and collaborator Pablo Santiago Chin (music and video) are debuting their work Green Alter Egos, "an opera in miniature that explores insects' vulnerabilities," for the Americas Society/Council of the Americas on Friday, April 2, 2021, at 7:00 PM, made possible in part with public funds from Creative Engagement, supported by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council and administered by LMCC. Also on the bill for the event is the SCA's Mauricio Pauly and Zach Moore's Dust Unsettled. More HERE.

Koochakzadeh-Yazdi's SONIC LUSTER

SCA alumni (and incoming Stanford PhD candidate) Kimia Koochakzadeh-Yazdi has just released her first album, SONIC LUSTER, on Bandcamp. Listen to it HERE.

Hekademia screening

SCA alumni Gloria Mercer's Hekademia will be screening at the Reel 2 Real International Film Festival for Youth, which runs April 14 – 23, 2021, and the Los Angeles Women's International Film Festival on March 27, 2021, at 11:45 AM (PST). Find out more about Mercer and her work HERE.

The SCA's Laura Marks gave a keynote, "Tackling the Carbon Footprint of Streaming Media (TCFSM): A Transdisciplinary Laboratory for New Media Informatics (4D)," at New Materialist Informatics 2021, which is an "in­ter­na­tio­nal con­fe­rence that con­nects in­for­ma­tics and the hu­ma­nities & so­ci­al sci­en­ces through the in­no­va­ti­ve field of new ma­te­ria­list re­se­arch."
